My kids are both NAPLAN kids, meaning every couple of years they go through a level of testing designed to gauge how the school is travelling, rather than putting focus on the individual student.
Since starting High School they both have Microsoft Surface Go 2 laptops, which come with a touchscreen, and every time NAPLAN rolled around the touchscreens would no longer work, and uninstalling the NAPLAN Locked Down Browser (LDB) wasn’t enough to fix it.
Finally after this latest bout of NAPLAN I was able to fix them, without have to go to a previous Restore Point (which was my previous fix).
Why Did This Happen?
I suspect the NAPLAN LDB changes a registry setting, so whilst changing it back is relatively simple, if you are unfamiliar with the System Registry you should reach out to a capable computer technician to help you. Shameless plug alert! You can always reach out to me here!
Otherwise when logged in as the affected user, open up the Registry Editor (regedit), and head to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wisp\Touch\TouchGate
If you see that the value is 0, change it to 1.
Close the Registry Editor and reboot the computer, and test that the touchscreen works.
Hopefully as simple as that!
Beyond that I also uninstalled the NAPLAN LDB, once no longer required.
